Ohio law restricts outdoor open burning during the spring (March, April, May) and fall (October, November) months:

  • No burning between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM within 1,000 feet of any woodland, brushland, or field.
  • Dry grass, leaves, and spring winds cause fires to spread rapidly during daytime hours.
  • Violations can result in fines and liability for fire suppression costs.
